Writing is a craft; a craft that can be learned and refined. Ultimately, writing takes practice and as a writer, participants will have opportunities to write inside and outside the classroom. This course is geared towards improving participants’ writing knowledge, abilities and skills, specifically as it relates to producing academic essays, research proposals, reports and critical reflections. Focus will also be on developing participants’ abilities to critically think and employ creative problem solving techniques. Additionally, participants will be exposed to different research methodologies, methods and techniques. This course is also aimed at participants identifying and applying appropriate research methodologies in order to plan, conduct and evaluate basic research within their respective organisation.
