This course is designed to provide the participants with an
understanding of the theory and practice of auditing and to convey an understanding
of the role of the auditor and the objectives of auditor's report in statutory
audits. The course attempts to provide an overall framework within which the
audit process is conducted and within this framework to deal with the issues of
risk assessment, testing and audit evidence in relation to cash, inventories,
fixed assets, receivables and payroll. Theoretical and practical issues are
demonstrated using published decided cases which have influenced the evolution
of auditing.

Managers who possess significant experience and skills and beginners who need the basic foundations will both benefit, albeit in different ways. The varied groups and individuals will have a common understanding of the foundation concepts that would provide the premise for advanced training, and improved practice in public sector management.
